The Benefits of Dry Body Brushing

There is a lot of hype these days about the benefits of dry body brushing, and with good reason, but what exactly is it and how do you do it?  Dry body brushing is a simple technique performed by using a brush to gently exfoliate the top layer of skin, in turn, helping to facilitate the removal of toxins in the body.  If done properly, dry body brushing can yield some very favorable results, including reducing cellulite, stimulating blood and lymph flow, and strengthening the immune system, just to name a few.  All you need is a body brush, preferably made from natural materials, which can be found in most health food stores and online ranging in price from $10—$15.  Begin by brushing the front and back of your feet and legs in long upward brush strokes.  Gradually moving towards your torso, back, shoulders, and arms directing each brush stroke toward your heart until all body parts have been gently brushed.  Concentrating specifically on the areas where your lymph nodes reside, behind the knees and under the arms.  Try this for about ten minutes a day before your shower or bath.  Complete the process by massaging your skin with an organic nut oil such as avocado, sweet almond, sesame, or coconut.  Although you may not notice instant results, after time, your skin will look vibrate and feel wonderful.
